Producer

Garfield Gardens is a town garden at the home of Terry & Joyce Miller in Cedarville. We live on about an acre of land & have been gardening here for over 35 years. We grow an array of crops 9-10 months of the year outside and microgreens under lights all year long. We have a greenhouse, several low tunnels under Agribon as well as a scattering of outside garden areas totaling about ½ acre.

Our plans for our 2020 garden are well underway with seeds purchased, garden plan finalized, soil amendments mostly completed and seedlings started inside. We just picked Chinese cabbage from a low tunnel that was planted last fall and have some lettuce which overwintered in another. Winter is a good time to get caught up on jam production using frozen fruit picked from our garden last summer/fall, so our cellar is overflowing with many varieties of jam to choose from.

Terry & I are committed to producing quality food for our community and we sell produce, jam and dried fruit at both the Saturday market and through the Modoc Harvest Food Hub. We get help from our daughter Tanya and her family as well as a local teen interested in gardening. We were fortunate to be able to participate in the mentor/mentee program sponsored by Modoc Harvest last year and encourage other budding and experienced gardeners to apply this coming season.
