About Us
Welcome to Trouble Valley Farm, nestled in the picturesque Thoms Creek Estates neighborhood of Alturas, CA. Our 20-acre farm is dedicated to sustainable agriculture and passionate about providing our community with nutritious, farm-fresh produce.

At Trouble Valley Farm, we specialize in pasture-raised chickens, ensuring our hens have plenty of space to roam and forage, resulting in extra-nutritious eggs. Our small orchard provides a variety of fruits, and our seasonal production garden is ever-expanding, offering a diverse array of vegetables.

What sets us apart is our love for experimentation. Each year, we plant a selection of weird and wonderful crops, always non-GMO and open-pollinated, to see what thrives in our challenging micro-climate. This experimentation is not just a hobby but a passion project, driving us to discover new flavors and varieties to share with our community.

Join us on our journey as we continue to grow, learn, and cultivate the best that nature has to offer. Thank you for supporting Trouble Valley Farm.
Practices
Sustainable Agriculture: At Trouble Valley Farm, we are committed to sustainable agricultural practices that promote the health of our land and the well-being of our animals. Our farming methods prioritize soil health, water conservation, and biodiversity.

Pasture-Raised Chickens: Our chickens are raised on pasture, where they have access to fresh grass, insects, and sunlight. This not only ensures their welfare but also results in eggs that are higher in nutrients and flavor.

Natural Fertilizers: We use natural fertilizers, such as compost and manure from our animals, to enrich the soil and promote plant growth. This reduces the need for synthetic fertilizers and helps to maintain soil health.

Interplanting: Instead of traditional crop rotation, we practice interplanting, where different crops are planted in the same area at the same time. This method maximizes space, reduces the risk of pests and diseases, and enhances biodiversity.

Non-GMO, Open-Pollinated Varieties: We are committed to preserving biodiversity and only plant non-GMO, open-pollinated varieties of crops. This allows us to save seeds from year to year and adapt to our unique micro-climate.

Zero Pesticide Use: We are proud to say that we do not use any pesticides on our farm. We believe in natural pest control methods, such as companion planting and attracting beneficial insects, to maintain a healthy balance in our ecosystem.

Continuous Improvement: We are constantly learning and evolving our practices to be more sustainable and environmentally friendly. We welcome feedback and ideas as we continue to grow and improve.
